Cool Background

I was playing around with a scrapart page (my new term for scrapbook pages that have a lot of ink...) I didn't like it. I had used too much mist & it had gone under the stencil creating a bit of a mess. I tried outlining my images to fix it, inking again with the stencil to get some definition...still did not look good. Applying a thinnish layer of gesso, covered up the mess but created a layer. I put squirts of glimmer mist at the top of the page & spritzed water letting the color drip down the page which made a totally cool background. Because of the gesso the mist is a darkish pastel color, some of the stenciling shows through but now it doesn't matter that you can't make out the images. Finally I flicked mist on it. The page is ongoing, definitely needs some black stamping... stay tuned!

Chevron Stencil

This is an art journal page from my Book of Days. There are lots of layers starting with one of my favorite Crafters Workshop Chevron. I used the luscious Dylusions sprays and than added some washi tape & ephemera. I have been working a lot lately & have been neglecting my art journal so I am going to get back to the idea of journaling a bit everyday, it definitely helps keep me in the creative mode!

A Biking We Will Go.

Sorry for not posting! Between being hammered with allergies, prepping & teaching classes I have neglected my blog!

So here is a layout I did in my book of days- just love that this was a library clearance book & now it is a beautiful art journal. This page was a fun experiment. I gessoed the page & used the awesome Dylusions spray, painting it on. I let the spray dry then put the stencil on & using a baby wipe, wiped off parts through the stencil. I wasn't sure if this technique would work with the sprays but it worked beautifully. Using Tim Holtz's new stamp set Road Trip to do some back ground stamping & the title. I added some die cut/stamp from sizzix/heroarts. The banner is made from canvas. Some stickers & doodling and my page was done.
